Minnesota's medical technology industry employment increased 56% between 1990 and 1999 to over 22,500 people, ranking 2nd only to California.

The 350-mile long corridor extending from Rochester through the Twin Cities to northern Minnesota is home to more than 8,000 healthcare companies.  The corridor is often referred to as Medical Alley.

Companies in Minnesota are Medtronic, St. Jude Medical, Inc., Guidant Corp.,  Boston Scientific Scimed, Possis Medical Inc., American Medical Systems, Inc.,to name only a few.
