Course Description:
This course is designed to give the student a view of the office as an information center where technology and human relation skills are needed to maximize the use of information. Upon completion of this course, the student will be familiar with;
1. Basic Concepts in Administrative Management
*principles and practices
*internal and external influencing forces
*office systems
*training needs
*resource management
2. Managing Human Resources
*communication
*recruiting
*supervising
*appraising
3. Managing Office Systems and Environments
*ergonomics
*reprographics
*networks/technology
*trends
Expectations:
-The student is expected to attend all classes and actively participate. A missed class should be discussed with the instructor and the student will be responsible for turning in the assignments and/or quizzes required for the next class on time.
-All work is due and will be collected at the beginning of each class period. No late work will be accepted.
-Cheating will not be tolerated and an automatic (F) will be given for that work.
Evaluation:
In-class assignments - 10 points per week
Out-of-class assignments - 20 points per week
Quizzes - 5-10 (maximum) points per chapter
Book report - 50 points
Your final grade will be determined on a straight percentage rate as a result of your combined scores.
90% and above =A
80% - 89% =B
70% - 79% =C
60% - 69% =D
