FACULTY DEVELOPMENT
"The teacher must not confuse Information with Education, otherwise the
student may become a well-taught but wholly unlearning individual." S.E. Whitnall, 1933
The
goal of Faculty Development and Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is to
encourage, support, share, and applaud innovative teaching and learning
methods. Faculty and staff share techniques in/and discuss critical
thinking, active learning, instructional technology, writing, assessment of
student learning, and best practices. We also seek to cultivate community
bonds between students, staff, faculty, and the administration.
This web site is owned by the Anoka-Ramsey Community College Faculty
Association; it is maintained by the Faculty Development Committee and CTL
leadership team. All faculty members are invited to contribute
to this site by sending comments to any of your faculty representatives for
your campus. The
purpose of this site is to improve communication among faculty about resources and
opportunities for professional development. It is also a center for improving teaching not
only through conferences, workshops, and seminars, but also through on-going exchanges of
ideas and practices and a sharing of talents and expertise. One
helpful site for ideas is ARCC's
Best Practices for
Course Design. Be sure to visit this site when planning for
courses.
