Introduction to Business

Introduction to acquaint the student with the functional areas of business enterprise.  The student will learn about the business environment, principles, and motives of business people and institutions, business vocabulary, management tolls, and managerial skill.  Topics include accounting, production, marketing, finance, management, business ethics, computers, international business, human relations, investments, and diversity issues.

Introduction to Computers

Introductory course where students learn how computers and computer technology are interwoven throughout the business world and our careers.  Hands on computer lab experience includes using: (a) the Windows operating system; (b) word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation graphics software; and (c) Internet browsers and communication programs.  In addition, topics such as computer hardware, digital cameras, scanners, utility programs, networks, data security, and conducting research via the Internet are included in this course. 

BUS 1153 Beginning Keyboarding

Develops alphabetic and numeric keyboarding skills using a microcomputer.  Includes formatting basic documents.  Intended for persons who want to improve their keyboarding skills or have no previous keyboarding experience.
 
BUS 2141 Introduction to Financial Planning

Financial planning is planning in regard to income and expenditures.  The main topics are budgeting, selecting savings media, purchasing insurance, borrowing, tax planning, making investments, selecting financial advisors, making wills, accumulating wealth, and current developments in the area of financial services.  Students will prepare their own financial plan in this course.
